NCFC youth and staff who are involved in our cultural program were happy to be a part of the drumming performance by Clayton McNabb from Peepeekesis First Nation. Clayton and the other drummers invited our youth to try out drumming along with them to some round dance songs. We had our own impromptu round dance with staff, volunteers and youth all participating! Thank you to Clayton and thank you to SaskCulture for making this program possible for our youth and community.IMG_0497 IMG_0498 IMG_0500 IMG_0501 IMG_0502 IMG_0503

At NCFC we are very happy to have a talented youth artist from the North Central community, Rainne, teaching an art class to the younger kids once a week. We are happy to have Rainne’s talents and the class has been a lot of fun for the kids. Rainne was also a big part of designing our mural, so we wanted to send a big thank you to her!

NCFC youth have had the opportunity to enjoy yoga class with a qualified instructor. The class has been challenging and our youth have been proud of themselves for the new skills they have been learning. Thank you to Ehrlo Child and Family Foundation for making this class possible and many thanks to our instructor, Sean Hall, who teaches at Bodhi Tree Yoga!

NCFC youth and community members have been enjoying the beading skills they have been learning every Tuesday night. We have worked on loom beading, peyote stitch, beaded earrings, and making small beaded headdresses. Our next part of the project will be drumming and trips to Pasqua First Nation. Thank you to SaskCulture for making this program possible and thank you to our Aboriginal Arts and Culture Leader, Eugene Cyr, and his wife Debbie for their expertise and guidance.IMG_0435 IMG_0436 IMG_0437

Our Teens are fortunate to be a part of the Photo Voice project, sponsored by Regina Public Library, Dunlop Art Gallery, Common Weal Community Arts, RQHR Health Region, and the City of Regina. Tonight they will be a part of the project presentation at RPL downtown and two of our teens will be MCing the event. Good luck to our presenters tonight and thank you to the project organizers for asking us to be a part of it.
